Recruiting BCS Swimming Academy swimmers Aug 2011

Zoe is looking to fill the final 3 places in the new BCS Academy in Brournemouth for the start of the new school year Sept 2011. We have two boys and one girl boarding place available at the moment. Swimmers must be of a National or Regional Medalist standard and will be offered substantial swimming scholarships. World Swimming Record Holder joins BCS

Great Britain and New Zealand International and former Somerset CHEETAS coach will now be working alongside Adam Parfitt, in the BCS Swimming Academy, which is being run in partnership with Seagulls Swimming Club. Zoe and Adam will also coach BCS school swimmers and work exclusively with BCS academy swimmers seven days a week. The programme aims to prepare swimmers for the GB and Olympic senior teams and to ensure as many national podium swimmers as possible. The programme is unique in the country as all swimmers have their coaching programme built around their school timetable. Our indoor on-site pool and land based elite athlete conditioning facilities based 10 minutes from school make this the best available swimming training programme for school based swimmers. Swimming sessions are designed to be completed in the working day, therefore allowing top national swimmers the opportunity to meet their educational and social needs as well. World Class Breaststroke Development Clinic

In the 2011 February half term, Richard Webb and I will be running a world class breaststroke development clinic that will provide over 5 hours of contact time with the both of us.

The clinic will be held over two days in the half term and will offer two 2hour pool sessions and two 45minute presentations, all focused on breaststroke development.

New Performance Team – “Somerset Cheetas”

Somerset CHEETAS

The CHEETAS performance squad is made up of Street & District and Chard & District Swimming Clubs. We officially begin working to together from August 23^rd 2010.

Zoe Baker is the head coach of both the Street and Chard club programmes and operates a “mirror programme” at both facilities. Zoe delivers the same programme and swim sessions at both clubs and provides the same opportunities for everyone. Adam Parfit is assistant coach and leads the age group development squad twice a week.

Our new club has a separate committee (50% Chard and 50% Street) and operates as a combined team at the National Arena League each year (October to December) along with combined training sessions operating at Millfield 50m Pool. Top up hours are available to swimmers using both clubs facilities.

CHEETAS performance swimmers are Regional and National level swimmers and swim under the CHEETAS squad at all these competitions, along with selected Level 1 meets. Swimmers will represent their home club the rest of the time.

Statement from the Head Coach:

“This is an exciting new venture for all of us and my aim over the next 3 years is to bring two local clubs together and operate at the very highest standards. I endeavor to provide a high quality programme and provide everyone appropriate opportunities to reach their full potential.

My plan is to inspire, motive, and educate my swimmers and coach’s on a daily basis, raising standards, setting realistic goals and putting in place exciting new challenges.

Breaststroke & Butterfly Swim Clinic May 29th & June 5th 2010

I am organising more swim clinics for 29th May and 5th June at the University of Bath.

I will be running the following:

Saturday 29th May

10-12pm Breaststroke and Butterfly Clinic.
10-11am with be Butterfly focus and 11-12pm will be Breaststroke focus.

There maybe the opportunity (depending on numbers) to do just the one hour of one stroke if you would prefer.

I will also be running a second clinic on:

Saturday 5th June

11-12pm Track Starts and Individual medley turns.
